Last of the Summer Wine by DeepBlueDesign Last of the Summer Wine by DeepBlueDesign
I finally managed to finish the scene. I fixed the background, solved some texturing issues and I added a couple of snails to give the whole thing some life.

All objects were modelled by me from scratch in Blender. The textures were mostly hand painted, apart from a few (such as the texture on the table) which came from CGTextures.com. The scene was rendered in Blender 2.61 with Cycles.

Minor post work was done in Photoshop, mostly contrast adjustments and some colour correction.

Thank you :). Yeah, it takes a while to wrap your mind around the idea of 3D space on a 2D screen :O

I can imagine! 2D and 3D are separate for a reason, haha! =D

Thank you! It's actually meant to be a mediterranian scene, but tropical is good too, especially at this time of year ... brrrrrrr... :D

Haha, maybe is because I live in a tropical country and got really hooked up by that pinapple. But it's rainy season now so it's not that hot :(

Indonesia! Such a beautiful country. It might not be hot, but I bet it's a lot warmer than here in the Netherlands ... this morning at the bus stop it was 3 degrees Celsius and storming and raining ... If and when I hit the jackpot in the lottery I'll come and visit you in your wonderful warm country! :)

Thank you, my friend

I thought the scene was lacking life, so I put the snails in. They're not all that successful, they look very cartoony so I'll have to keep practising :)

You're very welcome! Maybe they look a bit cartoony,
but I'm sure this work wouldn't look so cute and fresh with too realistc snails! ;)
